Description
This course provides in-depth information on synchrotron radiation techniques and their application to various scientific fields. It covers the fundamentals of synchrotron and free-electron laser sources, with a focus on the techniques available in these large instruments for materials characterization and analysis. The course aims at giving students both theoretical and practical knowledge into the applications of X-ray based techniques in fundamental or applied research. A specific focus will be made on the use of these techniques to understand to structure and behavior of energy devices such as batteries, supercapacitors, electrolyzers or fuel cells under operating conditions.
Some course time will also be dedicated to introduce several platforms available at the Université Paris Cité for material characterizations and device processing. Visits of the different instruments would be organized.
