At the end of this course the student should be able to identify effective strategies for the synthesis of moderately complex organic compounds.

• Main protective groups in organic synthesis.
• Retrosynthesis elements: disconnection, building blocks, interconversion of functional groups, addition of functional groups. Examples of synthetic compounds of biological interest.
