Natural Risks and Society

Short Description :

This course is an introduction to the world of natural disaster management and prevention, recently referred to as disaster risk reduction.

Long description :

This course aims to familiarize students with the human and social dimensions of so-called "natural" risks. It should enable them to better understand the structuring and organization of the field of disaster risk reduction. By the end of this course, students will have mastered the key concepts, methods and issues of DRR. They will have a good knowledge of the main actors in DRR and of the mechanisms of DRR in France. They will be able to identify the elements which, beyond the hazard itself, construct the risk.

Prerequisites (language, special knowledge, other courses, BA MA) :

Bachelor degree and 1^st year of Master

Assessment methods (exams), prerequisites for exams :

Continuous assessment and exam.
