Description
ECOFEMINISM AND THE DECOLONIZATION OF WOMEN, NATURE AND THE FUTURE
This course is a reflection on what it contemporarily means to think in a “decolonial ecofeminist” way, especially while conducting research in the social sciences. Accordingly, we will explore readings at the intersection of the fields of de-colonialism, ecology, and feminism. Such valuable texts will grant us the chance to dwell on contemporary questions (such as climate change, the Black Lives Matter movement, refugee crises etc.) with tools that go beyond the Eurocentric epistemological canon. Offered as a provocative reframing of our research apparatuses, this course will help us develop critical standpoints towards undertaking sociological/anthropological research in an academic world dominated by a hegemonic “colonial matrix of power”. Together, we will seek to decolonise our spaces of imagination to probe the possibility of reinventing ourselves and the worlds around us.
