Sociologie de la Chine 1

This seminar looks at the main transformations of the Chinese society over the last four decades. The latest researches by both Chinese and foreign sociologists will be introduced. Each session is organised around texts that students have read in advance and that are collectively discussed. Students get to understand how sociological work is carried out on the Chinese field (according to what methods? using what materials?). The aims of this seminar are therefore both of knowledge and methodology. The classic questions of sociology - stratification, mobility, urbanisation or the family - are addressed in the Chinese context. The seminar is taught in English
